Infertility and Mental Health

This course is for social workers, mental health counselors, medical providers, nurses, prescribers and others who work with girls and women at any stage of the lifespan.

This course is intended to clarify the participant’s ability to identify, diagnosis and treat women experiencing infertility and related reproductive issues as appropriate to their scope of practice.

Specific topics covered:
 

• Recognizing the stressors common to infertility treatment and reproductive grief, even if you’ve never experienced them.
• Identifying specific symptoms that warrant psychiatric diagnosis or medication referral.
• The three-pronged approach to differentiate infertility-related emotional distress from major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders.
• Are antidepressants safe during fertility treatment and early pregnancy?
• The major components of an effective treatment plan for infertility-related mental health concerns.
